Last Night…

Bird

I took this photo yesterday with my iPhone.

It was dusk and my husband + Cooper were putting golf balls together in our backyard while I sat on a chair and tried to hold back from racing inside to {clean the kitchen, unload the dishwasher, fold laundry, answer work emails, check in on my challenge groups, etc. etc. etc.}

I guess you could say I felt that horrible sense of anxiety start to bubble up. I can only describe it as a sense of overwhelm..there is just SO much to do!! Yet that always seems to be the case…right?

But I took a deep breath and watched as Cooper made a fantastic putt and the two most important men in my life celebrated with a fist bump. Than I saw Cooper smile at me. It felt like a moment you watch in a movie. My anxiety melted like sugar being dipped in a warm glass of water.

I looked up at the moon + took a deep breath only to watch in AWE as a tiny hummingbird hovered and then landed on what I can only describe as the most obvious branch to perch.

I lifted my phone and as soon as soon as I snapped this photo, the moment was over and the hummingbird was off to continue exploring the world.

And it was beautiful.

I share this just as a reminder not only to myself but to all you other busy women out there!! The “other stuff” will get done. It won’t always be perfect and it won’t always be timely…but we must take care to be ALIVE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT. Life is now…<3

    Thank you for this wonderful reminder and beautiful picture =0)

    My way of being present is when I get home from work and picking up my 2years old son from Day Care. He runs to the couch and asks me to come join him (come sit mommy) I still have my shoes on, and bags in my hand…… Dinner still needs to be made, lunch bags need to be emptied and I still need to take off my shoes, but that can all wait. I run over and join my son on the couch for some mommy and son bonding time =0) Being Present has taught me to slow down and to take it all in!

    Thanks Marion

    I had a moment like that this morning…When I leave for work my kiddos are still sleeping. Today I left 30 minutes later and was able to enjoy the cuddles on the sofa with my kids. It was a great way to start the day. I didn’t need that cup of caffeine like I thought I needed to get my day going.
